Today in Figma we can apply the same design property to a single layer, here are some popular use cases:
a solid color with a second color with reduced opacity on a frame
a text layer with selected characters underlined to signal a hyperlink.
These sorts of design decisions are easily built using CSS and created in Figma, but can't be captured as design tokens
There's also several composite token enthusiasts that would like to apply more than one composite token to a single layer.
Ideally we could define these design decisions with tokens, but it is not yet possible in the plugin.
Today, we can only apply 1 token representing a design property per layer. In instances where we have multiple tokens defined for independent values, like border radii or spacing, when we inspect or annotate those elements, not all tokens are visible.
Rethink the way tokens are applied to design elements in Figma in a way that aligns with code, including the ability to have more than one of the same styling properties per layer.
